Food Pantry

The Compassion food pantry is a client choice facility, providing anyone in need of food assistance. We are very thankful to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, the Partner Pickup Program and the generous help of our congregation to be able to provide this assistance.

The food pantry is a 7 day a week operation. We need people who can pick up food at grocery stores, sort and organize food, and hand out food on Wednesdays. If you are interested in serving in our food pantry, contact us and we’ll help you get started!

We are open every Wednesday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Compassion Ministry Center. You may come once a month with a scheduled appointment time.

“The Compassion food pantry also partners with the USDA for some of the food we receive.  Additional information on the USDA can be found here (https://www.fns.usda.gov/) and their non-discrimination statement can be found here (https://www.fns.usda.gov/civil-rights/usda-nondiscrimination-statement-other-fns-programs).”

Please call 434.515.1413 to get an appointment scheduled.

Christmas Food Boxes

In 2009, we saw a need and decided to collect food to give to hungry families in Lynchburg. 300 families were served that first Christmas. With your help, we aim to serve over 1,000 families a Christmas food box every Christmas. Each box includes enough items for a nice Christmas dinner. Friend, that’s how we can spread joy.

Nazarene Disaster Relief

Here are ways that Compassion responds to needs in times of disasters:

  • Mobilizing disaster response teams to areas that have been subject to natural disasters. If you would like to join a team, follow us on social media to get details after a natural disaster has occurred.
  • If needed, Compassion will open its doors to provide shelter during storms.
  • Storing and distributing Crisis Care Kits.
